What is Zen Shiatsu?
Zen Shiatsu is a style of Shiatsu developed by Shizuto Masunaga. Zen Shiatsu returns Shiatsu to it's origin of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This medical philosopy is based on the Taosist concepts of Yin/Yang and Five Element Theory. Zen Shiatsu works with meridians and acupressure points in order to balance Qi. This philosphy of health believes that we fall out of a healthy state when our Qi (energy) is out of balance. Zen Shiatsu has a balanced approach and addresses the entire meridian system and works to bring your Qi back into balance.

What to expect,
Zen Shiatsu is performed on the floor on a mat. The recipent remains clothed, no oils or lotions are used. The recipent will experience compressions, direct thumb pressure to various acupressure points, stretching and passive joint movements. The recipents report feeling relaxed, elongated, balance and invigorated. I recommend that the recipent wear loose comfortable clothes to help facilitate the stretches.
